Strawbale design and construction

Carbon neutral and carbon negative building can be best achieved with straw. Bales lend themselves to many modern styles of building including straight finished walls, convict stone patterns and curved walls. They allow for a sculptural approach of which even Gaudi would be proud.
Design and construction for bushfire-prone areas

Fire protection plays an important part of design. With +20 years of fire management experience in design and construction, our structures can stand up to any level of fire protection from flame zone to BAL12.5.
Formed earth, cob and rammed earth

Potentially the least environmental impact of all building materials. Taking a local material and turning it into a house with high thermal mass is ideal. We can work with formed earth, cob and rammed earth inspired dwellings.
Timber structure design and use

We like to reuse site timber. If you need to clear the site, we can mill the timber for post and beam and portal frame construction. This saves freight and some timber costs and can provide great feature posts. It locks up a lot of carbon at the site and captures the best of the uniqueness and longevity of an Australian hardwood house.
Wastewater solutions

Waste water is a resource but, as we learnt from London and cholera at the start of the industrial revolution, it’s a hazard. We have a few ways of dealing with waste water on rural properties including the use of Sand Mounds and Evapotranspiration and Absorption Beds.
Green roofs

Green roofs can improve the thermal performance of a building by providing thermal mass, insulation and shading. Other environmental benefits include reducing stormwater runoff, decreasing urban heat island effects, and increasing biodiversity.
